Robert G. Byron is the Chairman, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Blue Vista Capital Management. Robert sits on the firm’s Board of Directors, Management and Investment Committees. Robert has over 45 years of real estate investment management and transaction experience, having completed over $22 billion in real estate transactions in his career, including over $13.1 billion of transactions since forming Blue Vista.
Prior to forming Blue Vista, Robert held the position of Chief Investment Officer for the McShane Corporation, a Chicago-based development and construction company. Prior to that, he led AEW Capital Management’s Investment Banking Group. Robert has also held senior positions with LaSalle Partners and LaSalle Investment Management (now JLL and LIM, respectively), as well as assisted several Chicago-based real estate entrepreneurs in capitalizing and overseeing their real estate operations. Robert began his real estate career at VMS Realty Partners, where he served as general counsel and eventually moved to the transaction side of the business. Prior to that, Robert practiced law in Chicago.
Robert earned a JD and a BA with Honors, from the University of Virginia. He currently serves on the University of Virginia’s Jefferson Scholarship Foundation Board, Jefferson Trust Board, UVA Foundation Board, UVA Health System Foundation Board, the University’s Affordable Housing Task Force and as the Vice Chairman of the newly created University of Virginia Center for Real Estate and the Built Environment. Robert is also a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute, a director of the ULI Foundation Board, a member of the Board of Directors of the Posse Foundation, a member of the Thomas Jefferson (Monticello) Foundation Summit Board and the Economic Club of Chicago.
