Maria Scherer is General Counsel at Blue Vista and is a member of the company’s Management Committee and Operations Committee. As General Counsel, Maria has responsibility for Blue Vista’s legal and regulatory affairs at the corporate, fund and investment levels.
Prior to joining Blue Vista, Maria was Associate General Counsel at Brookfield Properties Retail, providing counsel regarding financing, development, acquisitions, dispositions and asset management for a national portfolio of regional shopping malls. Prior to that Maria held various legal roles, including General Counsel, at Wrightwood Capital, and was Associate General Counsel at Ares Management. Maria began her career at DLA Piper and has also worked as a real estate attorney at Chicago-based Drane & Freyer.
Maria earned a JD from The University of Virginia School of Law and a BA in History and Economics from The University of Notre Dame. Maria is licensed to practice law in Illinois.
