Andrew Schaffler is head of Blue Vista’s Build-to-Rent (BTR) strategy, leading acquisition and investment activities including sourcing, structuring, underwriting and executing on transactions. In this capacity he is responsible for the development and management of BTR investment strategy, investment sourcing and portfolio management. Prior to joining the firm, Andrew co‐founded Roofstock Capital Management where he served as Chief Investment Officer overseeing and executing investments in build-to-rent and single-family rental and developing platform-level strategy. He has significant experience in the structuring and acquisition of private and public investments of all property types, and operating partnerships.
Prior to forming Roofstock Capital Management, Mr. Schaffler was a Managing Director in the real estate group at Angelo Gordon responsible for nationwide coverage of the single-family for rent sector and the firm’s activities in real estate special situations. Prior to Angelo Gordon, Andrew served as the Director of Listed Real Estate Securities for Madison International Realty, where he was responsible for all aspects of the firm’s public markets investing activities, and served as the portfolio manager as well as member of the investment committee for the firm’s private equity real estate funds. Prior to joining Madison in 2015, Andrew spent nine years at Cohen & Steers Capital Management on the real estate securities portfolio management team.
Andrew earned a BS in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University and is a CFA charterholder. Andrew is the chairman and an inaugural member of the ULI Single-Family BTR Council.
